Fellowship

κοινωνία (Koinonia) is a word in the bible often translated fellowship. The basic idea of the word is "sharing in common." Those who are true followers of Christ (Christians) all share something in common (1 John 1:3). We share Christ in common, and because we share Christ in common we share together in the divine nature and can have a relationship with God our Father(1 Pet. 1:4; 1 Jn. 1:3). Through Christ we have been given the very righteousness of God (1 Cor. 5:21). Because we share in His righteousness we have the unique opportunity to share together in something else: the gospel work. Paul called the Philippians "fellow partakers of grace" (Phil. 1:7), but he wasn't just referring to a shared conversion. He was ultimately refferring to grace which flows through us as we share together in being vessels of grace as we defend the faith and establish the gospel on earth through the power of God. This is why I have chosen the name "Sharing Grace Together" for my blog. I hope that this will be a means of stirring us all up to greater gospel work as we rejoice in sharing this great grace of God through Christ together.

To God Be the Glory!
